3000m Borehole of National Key Research Project in Wulong Ore Field Passed Field Acceptance

From August 26 to 27, a field acceptance meeting was held in Dandong for 3000m drilling project of “Deep Mineral Exploration and Reserve Increase Demonstration in Eastern Liaoning Ore-concentrated Area”, the No. 1 deep non-coal solid hole in Northeast China, which is located within the ore field of Wulong Mining. Haicheng Qiu, Chief Engineer of Wulong Mining, attended the meeting on behalf of the Company.

This acceptance was organized by the Development and Research Center of China Geological Survey, with an acceptance group formed by nine experts from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jilin University, Technology Guidance Center for Mineral Exploration of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Northeastern University, Provincial Department of Natural Resources, Liaoning Province Geology and Minerals Group and Wulong Mining, respectively. At the acceptance site, the expert group carefully reviewed and deliberated the project completion and quality system operation by reviewing original data, checking borehole core and listening to the report of project group. After analyzing and discussing the borehole results, experts considered that the construction of the 3000m drilling project met the requirements of relevant specifications and unanimously agreed that the project passed field acceptance.

The 3000m drilling project of “Deep Mineral Exploration and Reserve Increase Demonstration in Eastern Liaoning Ore-concentrated Area” is the key work of Deep Prediction and Exploration Demonstration of Gold Polymetallic Ore in Important Metallogenic Zones of Eastern Liaoning/Eastern Shandong of North China Craton, the special project for deep resource exploration and exploitation of the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The project lasted 399 days with the final hole depth of 3003.99m, setting a record for the No. 1 deep hole of non-coal solid mineral exploration in Northeast China. The boreholes revealed a total of 4 gold ore bodies, 3 gold mineralized bodies and 3 lead-zinc mineralized bodies. It has an important guiding role for future deep prospecting, improving the ability of mastering the regional prospecting rules, recognizing and evaluating the resource potential within 3000m and supporting the construction of a 1000-ton gold resource base in eastern Liaoning.

Academicians Rixiang Zhu and Jun Lin, who participated in the project acceptance, fully affirmed the scientific research results during the formal discussion with Shenghui Zhang, Deputy Director of the Exploration Guidance Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Zongqi Wang, Chief Scientist, and Zhicheng Lyu, Chief Engineer, and suggested to focus on eastern Liaoning and “be more daring” in the next round of prospecting action. In particular, it is necessary to focus on large structures in the Wulong mining area, because only large structures have the conditions for large mine. Academician Zhu talked with Haicheng Qiu and said, “Wulong should strive to become the leading large mine in China”.
