On Feb 28th, LXML held its 29th annual meeting with the Lao Government Sepon Management Committee in Vientiane. A total of 69 people attended this meeting, including LXML management, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Minerals, the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, the Deputy Governor of Savannakhet province, the mayor of Vilabouly district, the mayor of Sepon district, and representatives from relevant departments and governments at different levels.
The meeting began with a speech by Mr. Chanthone Naovalath, Chairman of the Sepon Management Committee and the Deputy Minister of Energy and Minerals. Mr. Paul Harris, current Co-Chairman of the Lao Government Sepon Management Committee, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of LXML and introduced Mr. Bo Gao as the new Chairman of LXML. Managers from LXML from each department then presented the overall performances in 2022 and the outlooks for 2023.
During the Q&A session, representatives from the Lao Government, Savannakhet Province, Vilabouly district, and Sepon district made comments and suggestions on the development of Sepon. They recommended that the Lao government should continue to strongly support Sepon in terms of license approval, infrastructure investment, etc., to maintain its sustainable development, and they hoped that Sepon would continue to invest in environmental protection, and push the development of the local communities and cultural heritage.
In the end, Mr. Chanthone Naovalath, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines of Laos, made the closing speech. He said that the rapid development of the Sepon mine has great significance to the Lao government, Savannakhet province, and Vilabouly and Sepon districts. Sepon mine not only makes outstanding contributions to the Laos economy, but also provides great help for local community development and cultural heritage. He also praised the Sepon mine for always adhering to the concept of safety and environmental protection as the core in the development process, and said that the government will continue to maintain cooperation with the company, and provide strong support for the company's future operations.
