On August 2, 2024, Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) participated in a handover ceremony for subsidies designated for volunteer teachers in the Vilabouly District of Savannakhet Province for the academic year 2022-2023. The event was attended on behalf of LXML by Mr. Namsana Phothiphanh, Superintendent of Community Engagement, and Mr. Keo Oudon Vongsakda, Deputy Head of the District Education and Sports Office, alongside representatives from the Office of Education, local authorities, guests, and volunteer teachers from across the district.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Keo Oudon Vongsakda highlighted the ongoing challenge of teacher shortages in Vilabouly District, similar to many other areas in Savannakhet Province. Since the academic year 2014-2015, the District Education Office has welcomed volunteer teachers to address this gap. As of the 2022-2023 academic year, there are 51 volunteer teachers in the district, comprising 32 females. The distribution of teachers includes 14 female educators in kindergarten, 23 teachers (11 female) in primary schools, 6 teachers (2 female) in lower-secondary schools, and 8 teachers (5 female) in upper-secondary schools.
This marks the third consecutive year that Vilabouly District has received financial support for volunteer teacher subsidies from LXML. The LXML company has generously contributed $13,000 USD (thirteen thousand US dollars) through the Sepon Trust Fund (TF), underscoring its commitment to enhancing education in the region.
LXML remains dedicated to supporting the education sector, recognizing the vital role of teachers in shaping the future of the community. By investing in volunteer teachers, LXML aims to empower local educators, improve educational outcomes, and foster a sustainable learning environment for all students in the Vilabouly District.
