On July 18, 2024, Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) extended its support by inaugurating a two-layer bitumen road to the community of None Somboun Village. The handover ceremony was co-chaired by Mr. Valiya Sichanthongthip, the mayor of Vilabouly district, Mr. Saman Aneka, LXML Managing Director, and Mr. Vanhnivone Chanthalasy, head of Vilabouly’s public works and transport, along Vilabouly District authority, contractors, village authorities, villagers, and LXML staff also participated.
This project is funded by the LXML Community Trust Fund. The road, stretching 620 meters to Nonesomboun village and 5 meters wide, extends from section 6305 on Road 28A to Huaykiang Bridge. Constructed with two layers of bitumen at a total cost of US$52,855, the completed road significantly enhances accessibility for None Somboun residents and facilitates easier transport of goods to the market for those in the Vilabouly district.
Since the Sepon operation Commenced in 2003, LXML has contributed more than US$14 million to the Community Trust Fund, benefiting local communities surrounding Sepon Mine. The annual funding has progressively increased from US$ 96,000 to US$ 750,000 per year and will continue until the mining project concludes. The fund focuses on three key areas: health, education, and agriculture, and supports public facilities such as roads, and the expansion of the power grid to remote areas.
In addition to the LXML’s Sepon Trust Fund, LXML also provides the Fund for Assistance to Disadvantage Group (FADG), utilizing a participatory development method where beneficiaries select industrious families willing to work, with decisions approved by the fund management committee. To date, LXML has contributed more than US$3,4 million to this fund since 2010.
