We are still on winning ways and maintaining and setting enviable records especially where health, Safety and Environment are concerned.
On 24th November 2023, the Ghana Chamber of Mines (Chamber) awarded us with Mine Performance awards as part and climax to the inter-mines first aid and safety competition. In this year’s competition, we were ultimate winners at the zonal level. This earned us our eighth qualification to the National Competition within a span of a decade. In the National Competition, our team competed with the likes of Future Gold Resources (FGR), Chirano Gold Mine and the host Ghana Manganese Company (GMC) to lift the coveted trophy for the fifth time. The team exhibited a stellar performance by scoring 49 out of 50 marks to win the trophy, setting a new record in the history of the competition.
The awards ceremony, which took place at the premises of the Chamber of mines, saw GSWL taking the 1st place 2023 Best Safe Mine in Safety, Health & Environmental Audit, 3rd place 2023 Best Mine Based on Occupational Injury Statistics and the coveted 2023 Best Mine team in the inter-mine Safety and First aid competition.
We are proud of the recognition and our safety team as well as everyone on our operations who in diverse ways played key roles in this success and continue to make safety an integral part of their work.
We are not relenting on these laurels as we continue to live by our mantra ‘if it is not safe, make it safe’
Samuel Kojo Ansah, Health and Safety Superintendent and Peter Addai, GSOPP Manager represented the company at the ceremony and picked up the awards.
