Recently, Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML Sepon) participated in the handover ceremony of the Road RR629 Improvement Project, stretching from Ban Meuangluang -Ban Nahoy - Ban Vangthakhouay in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province. The project spans 7.8 kilometers and the road is 5 meters wide. The total construction cost is US$22,000, all of which is supported by the Community Trust Fund (TF) of LXML Sepon. Participating in the project handover ceremony were Mr. Valiya Sichanthongthip, Mayor of Vilabouly District; the Head of Vilabouly District of the Public Works and Transport Office; Mr. Saman Aneka, General Director of LXML, along with technical officers from the company, representatives from the public sector and the contractor company, village authorities, and villagers.
The improvement project for the dirt road, Road No. RR6429, was contracted to the Khoun Mixay Civil and Construction Company Limited. The implementation and operation of the project began on May 1st and was completed by June 8th, 2023. The improvement of this road is greatly beneficial for all users, especially the local villagers of Ban Meuangluang, Kaengkerk, Nahoy, and Vangthakhouay, as it facilitates commuting and improves their lifestyle by providing faster transportation. On this occasion, Mr. Saman Aneka also brought over 200 saplings, including tea, rambutan, peach, and plum saplings. These were given to the authorities of Nahoy village to be distributed among the villagers for planting as next year's seeds.
Since commencing operations in 2003, LXML has invested over US$55 million in infrastructure improvements within the Vilabouly District. This includes a US$34 million investment in constructing an electricity grid from Thakek to Mahaxay, US$20 million in building and maintaining local roads, and US$5 million in the improvement and upgrade of Route 28A.
