Recently, Mr. Wang Jianhua, Chairman of Chifeng Gold, and Mr. Lyu Xiaozhao, Co-Chairman of Chifeng gold, took the visiting team from Sepon mine of LXML led by Mr. Carl Baker-duly, the GM of LXML, for a learning trip to Shandong Gold and Zijin Mining.

From 2nd to 3rd of June, the delegation visited Xincheng Gold Mine and Sanshandao Gold Mine located in Laizhou City, Shandong Province. Accompanied by Mr. Wang Lijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Shandong Gold, the delegation paid visits to the underground mining site, processing plant and automatic control system of grinding and flotation systems of Xincheng Gold Mine and the underground work face, intelligent processing plant, backfill plant and backfill control center and the mine central control center of Sanshandao Gold Mine, drawing on their experience and achievements on underground mining, mineral processing, backfill and smart and intelligent mine construction.

After the site tour, the visiting delegation held a discussion session with the mine management teams of Shandong Gold. The heads of Xincheng Gold Mine and Sanshandao Gold mine delivered a general introduction of their respective mines, placing emphasis on underground mining, technical innovation and smart and intelligent mine construction. Both sides carried out in-depth communication over elevating underground mining capacity and efficiency, safe production management, equipment management, improvement of metallurgical recovery and other issues.

Mr. Wang Lijun extended his warm welcome to Mr. Wang Jianhua for coming back “home” together with the visiting delegation. He said that during Mr. Wang Jianhua’s tenure as the Chairman of Shandong Gold, Shandong Gold team under his leadership achieved fast development, benefiting both the company and its employees on the long run; in the past few years, following the principle of “Safe, Ecological, Vibrant and Humanistic Shandong Gold”, Shandong Gold seeks growth through technical innovation and is committed to building safe green mines, creating a brand image of “Shandong Gold with Ecological Mining” and developing the company into a competitive and leading world gold producer. He hopes that Shandong Gold and Chifeng Gold will further enhance communication and collaboration in the future to jointly contribute to the development of China’s Gold Industry.

Mr. Wang Jiahua expressed his appreciation to Shandong Gold for the meticulous arrangement for the visiting group and their long-term care, support and help. He noticed that Shandong Gold, being the model and leader of gold mining companies in China, has made big strides in information technology, automatic and smart control and other areas, which is an example for us to learn and show respect for. He has strong feelings for Shandong Gold and hopes Chifeng Gold can cooperate with Shandong Gold in many fronts in the future, and we are ready to provide full support and assistance to Shandong Gold when it requires. Finally, he wishes greater breakthroughs for Shandong Gold in gold reserves, production and market capitalization and hopes Shandong Gold will play the spirit of “striving to be the best” in the mining industry of China to the fullest.

On June 4th, the visiting team came to Zijin Copper Co., Ltd. and Zijinshan Gold and Copper mine of Zijin Mining Group, located at Shanghang County, Fujian Province, for a learning tour. At Zijin Copper, the delegation visited the control room for production process and electrowinning plant; at Zijinshan Gold and Copper Mine, the group visited Zijinshan National Mine Park, the No.3 copper processing plant and the digital on-line monitoring platform, listened to the introduction over the development history, current conditions and future planning of Zijinshan Gold and Copper Mine., particularly the experience in mining and processing of low grade ore and protection of ecological environment.

On June 5th, Mr. Wang Jianhua and the visiting group held a discussion meeting with the management team of Zijin Mining, attended by Mr. Chen Jinghe, Executive Chairman of Zijin Mining Group, Mr. Lin Hongfu, Executive Vice President of Zijin Mining Group, Mr. Zheng Youcheng, Board Secretary of Zijin Mining Group and others. Exchanges over Zijin’s experience in mine operational management, team building, overseas project acquisition, mine governance and environment protection were made in the discussion meeting.

Mr. Wang Jianhua delivered his heartfelt thanks to Mr. Chen Jinghe and Zijin Ming for catering to our visit. He introduced the development progress of Chifeng Gold and provided update on the adjustment of operational management, changes and results made and achieved in the two projects overseas and said the Chinese and expat management team shall confront “differences”, place focus on communication, integrate with each other and establish the circle of skills. Mr. Wang Jianhua gave high opinions of the growth of Zijin Mining in the past few years, particularly the top rankings in mineral production in China and the world and remarkable achievement in overseas acquisition and ESG building; Chifeng Gold and its management team shall learn from Zijin Mining and continue to improve.

Mr. Chen Jinghe gave his warm welcome to the visiting group and thanked Mr. Wang Jianhua for his contribution during his tenure as the President, the achievements in cost control and environment protection in particular, laying a solid foundation for the current growth. He said Chifeng Gold has achieved earth-shaking changes under the leadership of Mr. Wang Jianhua and congratulated Chifeng Gold for its achievements. Mr. Chen Jinghe said Zijin Mining is committed to building a “green, high-tech and leading international mining group” following a guideline of “lifting quality, controlling costs and improving efficiency”. He hopes that Zijin Mining and Chifeng Gold can strengthen communication in many aspects, seek common development and make China’s due contribution to the development of the international mining industry.

LXML Sepon team’s tour to domestic mines of Chifeng Gold and Shandong Gold and Zijin Mining aims to enhance internal communication and integration within Chifeng Gold and learn form peers their advanced production and management experience, operational philosophies, improve our own awareness and management level and put it into practice, and drive the realization of the long-term goals of Sepon mine and Chifeng Gold. Through this learning trip and exchanges, each member of the visiting team from Sepon said they had a fruitful trip. What they saw would serve as a reference for the work in Sepon in ore extraction, mineral processing, cost reduction, efficiency improvement, safety management, environment and ecological protection. This trip gave them a new view of mining in China and enhanced their confidence in further improving production and operational management and achieving the development goals of Sepon and Chifeng Gold.
