On the morning of February 15, Chen Zhiyong, Director and Executive President of Chifeng Gold and Chairman of Golden Star Resources, and Chen Tiehe, Executive President and CEO of Wassa Mine, went to Rrofoyedur Town of Mamboso Region to meet with Kwamira Damoa III, the Paramount Chief of Mamboso Region.

The local community held a grand traditional welcoming ceremony. On behalf of Chifeng Gold, Chen Zhiyong first expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Paramount Chief and his local social leaders for supporting Chifeng Gold to acquire Golden Star Resources, personally attending the project delivery celebration, and the local community for accepting Chifeng Gold and supporting the development of Wassa Gold Mine. Chen Zhiyong said that Chifeng Gold has always maintained an open attitude, and now investing in Ghana will bring the value of “benefit more people with the development of Wassa Gold Mine” to the local area and integrate it into the local area. Under the management of Chifeng Gold, Wassa Gold Mine will accelerate its development, increase local employment opportunities, make greater contributions to community development and benefit more people. Chifeng Gold will increase capital and technology investment, continuously expand production scale, and strive to build Wassa Gold Mine into the best mine in Ghana.

The Paramount Chief expressed his support for the development of Wassa Gold Mine, promised to promote good communication, common development and win-win cooperation between the community and the mine, and hoped that Wassa Gold Mine would bring greater development opportunities and benefits to the local community under the management of Chifeng Gold.

Community members participating in the activities include chiefs, opinion leaders, youth representatives and representatives of the masses in the jurisdiction. Shadrack, Executive General Manager of Wassa Gold Mine, Dong Xiaofeng, Senior Manager of Sustainable Development, and Head of Community Relations Department attended the meeting.

There are 12 communities around Wassa Gold Mine, of which 7 are under the jurisdiction of the Paramount Chief of Mamboso Region.
