From May 16 to 17, Lyu Xiaozhao, Co-Chairman of Chifeng Gold, and Chen Tiehe, General Manager of Golden Star Wassa, and others visited the mining areas around Wassa, such as 242, DMH and HBB open-pit mines, to study open-pit mining and resource expansion.

242 and DMH open-pit mines are located around the main mining area in Wassa. In 2013, due to the decline in gold prices, the original owners stopped open-pit mining. The current increase in gold prices has brought economic feasibility to resume open-pit mining in this area. At present, Wassa mainly mines underground mines, and 242 and DMH open-pit mines are included in the mining plan, which can make full use of the surplus treatment capacity of the concentrator. At present, 242 has completed the test blasting, and it is expected that it will be approved by the Mincom in the near future, and it can start supplying ore for the concentrator in June. The open-pit development of DMH is in progress simultaneously, which will provide guarantee for the continuous ore supply of concentrator.

HBB mining area includes Benso mining right and HB mining right, and is located 50 km to 80 km south of Wassa main mining area. There are outcrops in some areas of Benso mining right, and the preliminary economic evaluation has been completed. It is estimated that more than 500,000 tons of ore can be provided for the concentrator every year in the future. The exploration degree in this area is low, and the prospecting potential is great. After intensive exploration, it is expected to obtain more resources. The "Father Brown Mine" in HB Mining Right was originally open-pit mining, and no mining operation was carried out after the end of open-pit mining in 2009. According to the latest geological model, there are many high-grade ore sections in the lower part of the open pit, and the preliminary evaluation shows that underground mining has good economic value. Intensive drilling work has been started in this area to upgrade the resources and provide the possibility for the mine to further expand its production capacity.

Lyu Xiaozhao said during the inspection that in the geological work in Wassa, it is necessary to develop ideas, emancipate the mind and make breakthroughs, and to extend prospecting in blank areas and deep areas to obtain greater resources and provide support for mining design; for mining work, it is necessary to innovate thinking, change mining methods, optimize mining design, prepare for capacity improvement and long-term development, establish the thinking of building large mines, and rapidly expand mine capacity. It lays a good foundation for the long-term layout of Chifeng Gold in Ghana and the realization of greatly increasing gold production year by year.
